Module 5
How did your surveys go? Did it change some of the ways you think about perfectionism?
So far, we’ve discussed:
The negative effects of perfectionism in your life;
Why it continues, and the impact it has on your feelings and behaviours such as avoidance, procrastination, performance checking and unhelpful behaviour.
We also looked at some ways of overcoming perfectionism such as understanding what is fact or fiction and using surveys.
Today we are going to learn 2 more ways to overcome perfectionism:
1) Behavioural experiments
2) Changing “all or nothing” thinking.
In a moment, we’ll meet Ava- a teenager who has struggled with perfectionism. Ava has trouble procrastinating due to feeling like their work is never good enough. We’ll soon find out whether using Behavioural Experiments helped Ava to overcome perfectionism.
